Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 19, 2026

Expiry is built with your privacy in mind. We believe in being upfront about how the app handles your data — and the short version is: your data stays on your device.

What Data We Collect

All the items you track in Expiry are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not collect personal information, create user profiles, or store any of your data on external servers. Your food tracking data never leaves your phone.

Open Food Facts API

When you scan a barcode, the app sends the barcode number to the Open Food Facts API to look up the product name. Only the barcode number is transmitted — no personal data is sent. Open Food Facts is a free, open, collaborative database of food products from around the world.

No Analytics or Tracking

Expiry does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising frameworks. No usage data, behavioral information, or device identifiers are collected or transmitted. What you do in the app stays in the app.

No Accounts

Expiry does not require or support user accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, no email collection, and no social sign-in. You open the app and start using it — that's it.

In-App Purchases

Expiry Pro is available as a monthly auto-renewing subscription, handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework. Purchase transactions are between you and Apple. We do not receive, process, or store your payment information.

Notifications

Expiry can send you reminders before items expire. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device — no notification data is sent to any server. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
